It always kills me...

Such amazing craftsmanship used on a nearly un-useable frame geometry, and an arcane old engine design...

Even the V-Rod that has a more modern engine design... tries as hard as it can to look 40 years older than it is.

The top bike has great details... but still looks unrideable for more than a short time, or in any sort of close quarters... like ANY parking lot.

And they are jewelry that can't be dropped without being destroyed... and if they do fall under their own prodigious weight, nobody could pick them back up, short of maybe a giant body-builder.

All that said, I am kind of turning on the concept of a power-cruiser, kind of a middle-ground between a cruiser-style bike, and a gigantic Cafe Racer, like the 2011 HyperModified VMax, or the recently done JvB Moto VMax InfraRed.

But, in actuality, I really want to see a customized BMW K1600 I6 bike... like a production version of Concept 6.

Kinja'd!!!

These bikes may not be as knife-edged as a smaller bike... but they aren't raked-out chopper jewelry, either, and they are set up to actually ride, by people who might be taller than 5'8", unlike so many small Cafe Racers.

Just because I am 6'2" and can't fit comfortably on a small bike, doesn't mean I want a chopper, either.

V-Rod would be cool if the iconic engine were in a new frame that suited it's modernity... but that is antithetical to H-D, and why H-D is pretty much antithetical to my taste in motorcycles. All the more so since they put Erik Buell out in the cold. A V-Rod powered Buell would have been interesting.

Both V-Rod and the Suzuki, like most H-D, Polaris-built, and metric "cruisers" have locomotive-esque wheelbases. they are extremely long, even compared to other big bikes like BMW K12/16, and other inline-transverse touring bikes, or even the Motus flying-V4 bikes.

I don't mind a bike big enough to fit me, but I would like to be able to maneuver the bike in less than a 113-point turn, sawing away at the front handle bars.

funny, I think the v-rod motor was originally meant for the buells, but it turned out too heavy big so HD slapped in something else.

Take a look at a BMW F800R. I personally dont like it (dad has one, and i ride it when my SV if out of commission) for me at 5.11, its okay...but it feels wide and the handle bars are a BIT (like maybe 2 inches) to forward. might fit you perfectly

granted, I'm assuming its not your first bike?

No, not my first. My previous bike was actually the pre-cursor to both the Ducati Monster, and the SV650... the (88-91) Honda Hawk GT NT650. I miss that bike, it was gorgeous, and cool, albeit not a power-house. Unfortunately, it was too small for me, and finances forced the sale, rather than the bike sitting without maintenance and deteriorating.

I don't mind the F-series BMWs... but they hardly seem like BMWs... belt or chain drive, cheap forks, and a nice-but-not-BMW Rotax parallel twin... None of BMW's trademark suspension innovation, and a non-BMW motor... You can't just take the M out of BMW.

BMW-wise... I love the R11ooS, R1200S, R-NineT/1200R or a K1200R-Sport. If I could have a newish-custom... I would love a K1600R-Sport, or putting R1100S bodywork on top of a DOHC hex-head R1200R/R-NineT with a front Duolever re-fit, and the Paralever EVO rear suspension.

For non-BMW, I would rather have a Suzuki SV1000S, or a Ducati 900SS/CR, frankly. Or maybe a customized Moto Guzzi Griso or Breva 1200 Sport, with a V11 LeMans bullet fairing... (and maybe a California 1400 new engine... if it would fit)

I wish Suzuki would do another SV1000S with based on their new spar-frame '14 V-Strom 1000, and Suzuki Recursion or Stratosphere concept half-faired styling.

I 100% get what you mean by the F series...more of a motorcycle built by BMW then a BMW motorcycle.

there is a certian hieght point where you doing really have a choice but to modifiy the bike to fit you.

I think this to be a GREAT site for figuring out if you need a new set of pegs of bars. (and yes, I did just kill your productivity for the whole day)
